TSMC committed to at least $100 billion in U.S. chip manufacturing over the next four years — bringing total planned U.S. investment to $165 billion. That covers additional fabs, advanced packaging facilities, and an R&D center at the Arizona site. An estimated 40,000 construction jobs come with it. The sheer scale of this makes it clear: the U.S. is dead serious about domestic chip production. The question is whether the infrastructure — water, power, workforce — can keep up with the money.
