Families of Bloomington's Class of 2027 can circle a date. The ISD 271 school board has set commencement for Wednesday, June 2, 2027, at U.S. Bank Stadium. Jefferson High School graduates at 2 p.m. and Kennedy High School at 6 p.m. Both ceremonies fall on the same day in the same downtown Minneapolis dome, so anyone with a senior at each school is in for a long Wednesday.

The stadium isn't new to either school. The Class of 2026 also graduated there, on Friday, June 5, 2026, with Kennedy at 2 p.m. and Jefferson at 6:30 p.m., per the district. Next spring the order flips, with Jefferson taking the afternoon slot and Kennedy the evening one. The ceremonies also move from a Friday to a midweek date.

The board took up the matter at its Oct. 26 meeting. The board approved the stadium agreement along with the dates.

The board set 2027 commencement for Wednesday, June 2, 2027, at U.S.10/26

Board members then read the formal resolution aloud. It establishes graduation exercises for the 2026-27 school year: Jefferson on Wednesday, June 2, 2027, at 2 p.m., and Kennedy that evening. The district's recap of the meeting lists the same venue, date and times.

Last spring's rules give a rough idea of what to expect. Each Jefferson graduate got up to 10 electronic guest tickets through GoFan. Kennedy graduates got up to 18. Every guest needed a ticket, children included. Bags were limited to 12 by 6 by 12 inches, and the only outside drink allowed was one sealed water bottle. BEC-TV livestreamed both ceremonies for people who couldn't get in. Those 2026 rules could change for 2027.

Next up is the ceremonies themselves on June 2, 2027, at U.S. Bank Stadium, 401 Chicago Ave. in Minneapolis. Before then, expect each high school to post its own ticket counts, arrival times and bag rules. Families with questions can contact their senior's high school. The school board holds public meetings throughout the year, and the district posts a recap after each one.
