Shortly before 1 a.m. on Oct. 6, gunfire tore through the 10000 block of Harriet Avenue South near West 102nd Street. Police put down nearly 97 evidence markers, and Chief Booker Hodges said about 100 rounds were fired. One person had a minor injury. Hodges said the shooters were 'simply shooting each other based on social media beefs.'
The chief's first message went to the shooters. 'We know who you are. You are going to jail,' Hodges said that week. As of Oct. 8, no one had been arrested.
His next message went to everyone else. At the Oct. 12 City Council meeting, before staff took up the police department's Axon contract, Hodges spoke about the shooting. He said homes were hit by the gunfire. He also brought up a separate threat made against a large community partner. Then he asked residents not to judge the Somali American community by what happened.

'We cannot judge an entire community based off the actions of a few,' Hodges told the council. He said that applies to every group: 'if we're going to do that for one, we need to do it for everybody else. And we don't do that.'

The case is now moving. In a post, police said officers served a warrant early in the morning on the '100th Block of Harriet Ave S.' as part of the ongoing investigation into 'last week's shots-fired call.' The department said no other agencies helped at the scene and that it had nothing more to share. The post doesn't say whether anyone was arrested or what was found.

This was a public safety update, not a council vote, so the next news will come from police: arrests, charges, or more warrants. We'll update this story when that happens.
If you have information about the shooting, call the Bloomington Police Department. If you saw it or have home camera video from that stretch of Harriet Avenue, that's especially useful.
