Bloomington police are asking for help finding a man wanted in a residential burglary who has also fled from police. In a community alert, investigators released a photo of the man they're looking for. They said officers went after him on Oct. 14 and again on Oct. 16, and he has not been arrested.

Police also wanted to set the record straight on one point. They said they're aware of information circulating online, and that a booking photo being shared is not connected to this investigation. The person in the photo police posted is the actual suspect. He was last seen in the 8000 block between Clinton Avenue South and 3rd Avenue South.
Police aren't releasing the man's name because the investigation is still active. If you see him, call 911. If you have photos or video that could help, investigators asked you to contact the police department. That includes doorbell or security camera footage from around 81st and Clinton on Oct. 14 or Oct. 16.
Here's how we got here. On Oct. 14, police said they were actively searching the area around 81st Street and Clinton Avenue for a man suspected in a residential burglary and an auto theft. They described him as a white man in his 40s with a shaved head, wearing a gray hoodie and dark jeans. The clothes are easy to change. The age range and shaved head aren't, and now there's a photo to go with them.

Police posted a short time later that the suspect had not been found, and they asked people in the area to call 911 if they saw anyone matching the description. The new alert says officers had another go at him on Oct. 16, and that one didn't end in an arrest either.
Several things are still unknown. Police haven't said which home was broken into or what happened on Oct. 16 when the man fled. The new alert mentions only the residential burglary and fleeing police, so it's also unclear what kind of vehicle was taken in the Oct. 14 auto theft or whether it has been recovered.
Until there's an arrest, the usual advice for this part of town applies: lock your doors and don't leave keys or fobs in your car. If you spot the man, police asked that you call 911 and not try to handle it yourself.
