The Log Chute has gone into costume. Mall of America has Fog Chute on its events calendar, a limited-time Halloween version of the log flume at Nickelodeon Universe. It runs from Sunday, Oct. 4, through Saturday, Oct. 31. The mall's pitch is short: "Jack-O-Lanterns will light the way as you journey through the mill!"
If you've been around for a few Halloweens, you've probably seen it before. The Log Chute changes themes with the seasons: Yule Log Chute at Christmas, Love Chute for Valentine's Day, and Fog Chute in October. The Halloween version has been running every year since 2017.
Now the practical stuff. Neither the mall's listing nor the park's own Fog Chute page gives a separate price or special hours, so treat it as the regular Log Chute ride with Halloween decorations. Nickelodeon Universe sells unlimited-ride wristbands and point passes, online or at the park, but its homepage doesn't post prices. Check those before you go, or call the park at 952-883-8800.
Fog Chute is one piece of the park's bigger Halloween run, Nickelodeon Booniverse, which runs Sept. 14 through Oct. 31. The Fright Lights Halloween Spectacular light show plays at park close Fridays through Sundays near the South Entrance. On October Fridays, the Shock and Ride Dance Party runs 7-9 p.m. PAW Patrol characters are scheduled for meet-and-greets Oct. 16-18, and professional pumpkin carvers will make Nickelodeon character designs Oct. 23-24. Trick or Treat for UNICEF presents the season and has its own celebration planned for Oct. 15-18.
There's plenty more going on at the mall this month. The outdoor movie season wraps up with Hocus Pocus on Oct. 17, and John Legend signs copies of his new album there Oct. 24. Fog Chute's last day is Halloween.
At: Log Chute.
