John Legend's new album comes out on a Friday, and on Saturday, Oct. 24, he'll be at Mall of America signing it. The signing starts at 1 p.m. in Nordstrom Court, according to the mall's events calendar. Here's the fine print you'll want before you go.
Tickets cost $27 each. The mall's ticket page says each one includes a CD copy of 'Muse,' the signing, and 1 posed photo with Legend. You only get the album if you attend. The mall won't hand out CDs before the event starts or after it ends, so a ticket isn't a backup way to buy the CD.
The ticket alone won't get you in line. You also need a wristband issued by Mall of America. Wristbands go out first-come, first-served, and you have to be there in person to get one. They can't be transferred, and the mall says quantities are limited. Anyone arriving before 7 a.m. should line up at the Level 1 North doors.
The line rules are strict. Legend won't personalize anything, and you can't bring other memorabilia for him to sign. The line is single file. You can step out briefly for the restroom or food, but you can't bring chairs, blankets, strollers or pillows. Guests who need special-needs accommodations can ask at the entry table when they arrive. For other questions, the mall's number is 952-883-8800.
'Muse' comes out Oct. 23 on Republic Records, the day before the signing. It has 16 tracks, and Pharrell Williams produced all of them and co-wrote the album with Legend. According to the announcement, it's the first full album the 2 have made together in more than 20 years of friendship. It draws on gospel, the standards, doo-wop, classic soul, Afrobeat and hip-hop.
Oct. 24 is a crowded day at the mall. Plan your parking accordingly.
