A fire that started in an attached garage spread into the home early Sunday, Oct. 11, in the 8300 block of West Bush Lake Road, the Bloomington Fire Department said.
The department said in a post that crews pulled up to heavy fire showing from the garage, and it had already extended into the house. One firefighter was evaluated. The department didn't say why, or whether that firefighter needed more care. It also said the cause is under investigation.

No injuries were reported, and fire officials said the attached garage was destroyed. They haven't said when the call came in, how many crews responded, or how badly the rest of the house was damaged. They also haven't said whether anyone was home or whether the people who live there are displaced.
Garage fires that spread into the house tend to move fast. An attached garage holds plenty of fuel, like cars, gas cans, lawn equipment and stored paint, and its shared wall and door lead straight into the living space. That's why it matters to keep the door between the garage and the house shut, and to have working smoke alarms on the house side of it.
We'll update this story if the fire department releases the cause or more details about the damage and the firefighter who was evaluated.
