The On the One Music Festival returns to Bloomington's South Loop for its fifth year on Saturday, Aug. 8, running 3 to 9 p.m. at Central Station Park, 8100 33rd Ave. S., next to the Bloomington Central light rail station.
The event, presented by The Avant Garde alongside the city's Parks and Recreation Department, is free and open to all ages. This year's headliner is Carl Thomas, the Grammy-nominated R&B singer behind "I Wish," "Summer Rain" and "Emotional." The lineup also includes L.A. Buckner & Big Homie, BDifferent, Bakarii, BDotCroc, Jhadiya Steele and the Normandale Jazz Alumni. Sanni Brown of Carbon Sound hosts, with DJs from GenerationNOW Entertainment — the official DJ crew for the Timberwolves and Lynx — spinning between sets.
Central Station Park's grounds are open grass with no permanent seating, so bring a blanket or lawn chair. The city has a parking map available for anyone driving in, though the park's light rail stop makes it an easy train ride from most of the metro.
