If your Sunday plans are wide open, here's an easy one: the Wellness Experience Festival, which the city calls a mental health awareness music festival, runs 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Sunday, Oct. 4, at Central Station Park, 8100 33rd Ave. S. It's free.
Live music is the main draw, but it isn't the whole lineup. The city's event listing also promises yoga, sound baths, meditation, healthy food, art, vendors and family activities. Organizers say the day is about celebrating community well-being, promoting personal safety and enjoying live music. The festival's motto: "Choose Joy. Choose Connection. Choose Life."
The event is organized by Living Naturally Abundant and sponsored by Bloomington Public Health. The city's listing doesn't name performers, give a set schedule or say anything about parking, so if you need specifics before you go, the organizers' contact email is [email protected].
The "Choose Life" part of the motto matters, and so does the timing. For plenty of people, autumn is a hard stretch. If you or someone you know is struggling, you can call or text 988 any time of day to reach the Suicide & Crisis Lifeline. In the meantime, there's an afternoon of music, a yoga mat and possibly a singing bowl waiting off 33rd Avenue.
