Bloomington Public Health's fall flu clinics are underway. The next one is Tuesday, Oct. 13, from 2:45 to 5 p.m. at Valley View Middle School, 8900 Portland Ave. S. In all, the department planned about 20 clinics in Bloomington, Edina and Richfield that run into early November, and shots are open to anyone 6 months and older.
Each appointment is a 5-minute slot, so you shouldn't be waiting long. Most major insurance plans are accepted, so bring your card if you have one. The department said you can still get vaccinated if you don't have insurance or can't pay. You can book online, or call 952-563-8900 and pick the option for help with flu vaccinations.
The series started Wednesday, Oct. 7, in the Olson Middle School cafeteria. A lot of the Bloomington stops are scheduled right after school lets out, which helps if you're bringing kids along. The day after Valley View, on Wednesday, Oct. 14, there's an evening clinic from 4:30 to 6:30 p.m. at Christ the King Lutheran Church, 8600 Fremont Ave. S.
If a weekday lunch break works better, go to Civic Plaza, 1800 W. Old Shakopee Road, on Thursday, Oct. 15, from 10:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. in the Black Box Theater. The city says the 2024-2025 flu season was a severe one, and that's why it's urging people to get vaccinated this year.
Kennedy High School is next on Monday, Oct. 19, from 2:45 to 5 p.m. in the media center at 9701 Nicollet Ave. Edina Community Center, 5701 Normandale Road, hosts a morning clinic on Thursday, Oct. 22, from 8:30 to 11:30 a.m. in Room 166, behind the welcome center. Oak Grove Middle School follows on Tuesday, Oct. 27, from 2:45 to 5 p.m. in the cafeteria at 1300 W. 106th St. Several Richfield sites are also on the schedule.
The last listed clinic is at the department's own building, 1900 W. Old Shakopee Road, on Wednesday, Nov. 4, from 11:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. Questions can go to [email protected] or 952-563-8900.
