The city's Creative Placemaking department is opening registration for a new adult workshop series called "One Thousand and One Thresholds: Community Through Art," running six Tuesday evenings this fall at The Works Museum.
Sessions run September 22 through October 27, 2026, from 6 to 8:15 p.m. at the museum, 9740 Grand Ave. S. The pitch is deliberately broad: writers, dancers, musicians, visual artists, performers and other creative thinkers are all welcome, with the city framing the series around process, collaboration and discovery across disciplines rather than a single medium.
The series is led by Rupa Shenoy-Thadhani, a Bloomington-based poet and visual artist who also co-leads the city's existing Sketch & Stretch workshop at The Works Museum, which blends gentle movement, visual art and creative writing. Shenoy-Thadhani is part of the city's broader artist engagement team under Creative Placemaking.
Registration runs $185 for residents and $200 for nonresidents, covering all six sessions. A limited number of scholarships are available, but applicants need to get theirs in by August 22 to be considered. The city is running registration through a Google Form linked from its event page, with full artist bios available there as well.
