Mall of America is turning the Huntington Bank Rotunda into a gaming hub for a weekend, teaming up with 2D Con for a family-friendly pop-up billed as tournaments, trivia, video games, board games and more. It runs Saturday, July 25, from 10 a.m. to 9 p.m., and Sunday, July 26, from 11 a.m. to 7 p.m.
2D Con calls itself Minnesota's largest gaming convention, and this rotunda pop-up looks like a preview of the main event: its 2026 convention, themed around adventure games and media, lands at the DoubleTree by Hilton Bloomington - Minneapolis South on August 21-23. The full weekend typically covers video game tournaments, tabletop and card games, cosplay and arcade and retro setups, run by a volunteer team that also raises money for charity.
The mall hasn't listed a cost for the pop-up, and with it staged in the open rotunda rather than a ticketed hall, it reads as a free, drop-in taste of what 2D Con brings to town next month. If you're gauging whether to spring for a badge to the August convention, this is the low-stakes way to find out.
