If your name is Ryan, Mall of America wants you on July 24. "Ryde the Ryan Coaster" runs from 6:30 to 9 p.m. in the Huntington Bank Rotunda, which organizers are renaming the "Rytunda" for the night, before the crowd parades over to the Pepsi Orange Streak coaster in Nickelodeon Universe.
The event is hosted by Ryan Meetup, a group that connects people named Ryan with other people named Ryan. Arriving Ryans get name tags at check-in between 6:30 and 7:15 p.m., then march to the coaster together. Organizers say they're trying to keep coaster trains running for a full hour with Ryans in every seat — the Orange Streak has an official capacity of 1,000 riders an hour.
The stated goal is a shot at the Guinness World Record for the largest gathering of people who share the same first name — currently held by a group of 2,325 people named Ivan, set in 2017. Ryans ride free; the mall notes the night comes with a wink, billing itself as "No Bryans Allowed." Non-Ryans can still come watch and, per the listing, some may join in.
After the ride, the party moves to The Fair on 4 for an afterparty with Ryan-themed food and drink specials. The whole thing doubles as a warmup: it lands one night before the Ryan Baseball Classic. Anyone planning to show up needs to RSVP through Partiful.
