Mall of America put National Hot Dog Day on its events calendar this year, and the celebration ran Wednesday, July 15 — the date nationally recognized as the third Wednesday in July.
The mall set up outside its North entrance by the MOA Star from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m., handing out free hot dogs and Pepsi samples along with yard games and giveaways — a quick midday break.
It's not a one-off. Mall of America ran essentially the same event last year — hot dogs and games outside that same North entrance — on July 16, 2025, when the holiday landed there instead.
National Hot Dog Day itself is a floating holiday, always falling on the third Wednesday of July. Mall of America's version stuck close to its usual formula: free food, a few games, and an excuse to eat outside for a couple hours.
