The Mighty Ducks get another shot at Mall of America's outdoor screen, now Thursday, Oct. 15

TLDR: Weather has pushed Mall of America's open-air screening of the Bloomington-born hockey classic back more than once. It's now set for Thursday, Oct. 15, in the North Lot, with $25 car passes and $7 lawn seats.

Weather keeps getting in the way of the Ducks. Mall of America's outdoor screening of The Mighty Ducks, part of its Movies at the Star series, was first scheduled for Sept. 19. The mall postponed it because of the forecast and now lists Thursday, Oct. 15, as the new date. The mall said tickets already bought for the earlier date are still good.

The mall's ticketing page shows a second delay. It says the screening was moved to Oct. 15 from Oct. 10 because of high winds. Under the new schedule, gates open at 6:30 p.m. and the movie starts at 8 p.m. The screen is in the mall's North Lot at 2131 Lindau Lane.

There are 2 ways in. A Car Pass costs $25 and covers 1 vehicle with up to 6 people plus a parking spot. A Lawn Lounge Pass costs $7 per person and comes with a lawn chair the mall provides. Both passes include the food trucks and the pre-show. Online fees raise the totals to about $28 for a car and $8.50 for a lawn seat. Tickets are sold on the mall's outdoor movies ticket page.

The mall describes the night as a blockbuster film plus pre-show entertainment, food trucks and an open-air movie experience. People who arrive early can play lawn games, listen to music and take photos. Since this is the hockey movie, Best Shift Hockey & Training will run interactive hockey games with prizes. If you're not coming by car, you can rent a movie chair.

Read the rules before you pack. Only chairs provided by the mall are allowed in the Lawn Lounge area. You can bring your own chairs and strollers, but only into the Car Pass spaces. Grills, open flames and cooking devices are banned. Pets are not allowed, though ADA service animals are. Alcohol and THC products are allowed only inside licensed establishments.

One more screening follows soon after. Hocus Pocus plays Saturday, Oct. 17, on the same schedule: gates at 6:30 p.m., movie at 8 p.m. A family that goes to both by car would pay roughly $56 including fees. For questions, the mall says to call Guest Services at 952-883-8800.
