If you've been at Nickelodeon Universe around closing time lately and seen the lights start acting up, the park says a witch did it. Fright Lights is Nickelodeon Universe's Halloween light-and-music show, and it's now on the Mall of America events calendar. Here's how the park describes it: a "funky witch" has put the place under her spell, and "she can make the lights and music groove, and the people move — all in the name of spooky Halloween fun."
The show runs from Sept. 25 through Oct. 31, Friday through Sunday, at park close, according to the park's event page. It happens at the park's South Entrance. The park lists no exact clock time. Closing time at Nickelodeon Universe changes by day, so check that day's park hours before you plan around the show. That leaves 3 weekends: Oct. 16–18, Oct. 23–25, and a final Friday and Saturday on Oct. 30–31, with the last show on Halloween night.
What it costs is the one thing neither listing tells you. Neither the mall's page nor the park's gives a price for Fright Lights, and neither says whether you need a ride wristband to watch. The mall's site sends people to its attractions ticket portal at tix.mallofamerica.com. If you'd rather ask, the park's phone number is 952-883-8800.
Fright Lights is one of several Halloween add-ons the mall is listing this month, including "Shock and Ride" and "Fog Chute." If you'd rather spend your spooky-season evening outside, the mall's outdoor movie season ends with Hocus Pocus on Oct. 17, which is a Fright Lights Saturday. You could do both in one trip.
