Bloomington Post 550 played host to the Gopher Classic, an 80-team tournament that pulled in squads from multiple states, and the American Legion team's arms delivered from the opening pitch. Post 550 opened with a 4-2 win over Rosemount Blue on July 10, backed by Max Meier's 6⅔ innings of four-hit, four-strikeout ball, with Kyle Fortner closing it out.
The next day brought a doubleheader sweep. Tyler McGovern went five innings against the Inviticus Eagles, throwing 46 of his 74 pitches for strikes without issuing a walk, in an 8-1 win that Brendan Lucas closed out in relief. Cole Peterson went 2-for-2 with two RBIs in that game. Fortner then took the mound again against PCBA and threw seven innings, allowing just three hits with four strikeouts and no walks, in a 3-0 win.
Bloomington kept rolling into bracket play on July 12, routing Grand Rapids 12-4 behind a complete-game five-hitter from Grant Cagley, with Cole Peterson going 2-for-3 and Josh Bickett tripling and drawing three walks. The run ended there, though, as Alexandria beat Bloomington 10-2 to close out the tournament for Post 550, which finished the event 14-8 overall.

The roster blends players from both of Bloomington's high schools — Kyle Fortner, Jonah Kaluza and Jack LaTourelle come from Kennedy, while Max Meier and Cole Peterson play for Jefferson. LaTourelle, a member of the class of 2028, is the roster's lone underclassman. Meier told the Sun Current he likes the Gopher Classic specifically because of its size and out-of-state competition, while LaTourelle noted that Legion ball puts him on the same side as the Kennedy players he faces as high school rivals during the school season. Peterson, comparing the summer game to high school ball, said wood bats offer better contact feel than aluminum even if aluminum is 'more forgiving,' and that high school pitching moves faster than what he sees in Legion play.
