The proposed cannabis facility at 300 West 83rd Street now has a named applicant. A city public hearing notice identifies the business as 14,444 Confections LLC, which is asking for a conditional use permit to run a cannabis manufacturing facility inside an existing office/warehouse building at the address. The city filed the request as case #PL2026-84.
The city's notice set the Planning Commission hearing for July 9, 2026, at 6 p.m. in the Council Chambers at Civic Plaza. When the hearing opened, city staff described the project as a cannabis and hemp manufacturing and distribution facility. They said the site is in an I-3 industrial zone, with a mix of homes and industrial uses around it.

That mix of neighbors is why this step matters. In this district, the use requires a conditional use permit, so it can't just move in by right. The commission has to decide whether manufacturing and distribution can work at this particular building, and it can attach conditions if it approves the permit.
Some details are still missing. The available meeting recording cuts off partway through the staff presentation, before any public testimony and before commissioners deliberated. So far there's no report of who spoke for or against the proposal, what conditions staff recommended, or how the commission voted.
This is also not the only cannabis manufacturing request the city has noticed. The city published a separate hearing notice for a conditional use permit for a cannabis manufacturing facility in an existing industrial building at 8200 Grand Ave. S.
