Mall of America has added "Artful Arches ft. Artistry: In The Heights Preview" to its events calendar, tying together two things already connected behind the scenes: the mall's Artful Arches art installation and Bloomington's Artistry theater company, which helped create it.
The Artful Arches is a walk-through installation in the mall's North Atrium on Level 1, built as a collaboration between Mall of America, Fraser and Artistry Theater & Visual Arts. The installation runs through July 26.
The preview part of the listing points toward "In the Heights," the Tony Award-winning Lin-Manuel Miranda musical about a Washington Heights neighborhood at a crossroads, with a book by Quiara Alegría Hudes. Artistry is staging it July 30 through August 23 at the Schneider Theater inside the Bloomington Center for the Arts, directed by Maija García.
Online tickets for "In the Heights" start as low as $15, with a limited run of $5 tickets available in person one hour before curtain (two per person). The box office at the Bloomington Center for the Arts is open Wednesday through Friday, noon to 5 p.m., plus an hour before every show; tickets and full showtimes are posted on Artistry's own site.
